Types of Braces
Every smile is different, and so is every treatment. Dr. Boller offers a curated selection of braces options, each with distinct advantages, so you can choose the approach that best fits your goals, lifestyle, and budget. No matter which type you choose, you’ll benefit from the same expert care and personalized treatment planning.
The gold standard of orthodontics, durable, reliable, and more comfortable than ever. Metal braces are highly effective for all types of cases and a favorite for kids and teens who love colorful elastic bands.
Tooth-colored ceramic brackets blend naturally with your smile for a more discreet treatment. They offer the same precision and effectiveness as metal braces with a lower profile.
Braces placed behind the teeth for a completely hidden treatment. Lingual braces offer the same precision and effectiveness as traditional braces while remaining entirely out of view.
Advanced brackets with a built-in sliding clip instead of elastic ties. This reduces friction, often resulting in shorter treatment times, fewer adjustments, and greater comfort.
Make a statement with our luxurious champagne or gold bracket options. A sophisticated, fashion-forward twist on traditional braces that turns orthodontic treatment into a style choice.
Braces for Kids
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have their first orthodontic evaluation by age 7. At this stage, Dr. Boller can identify developing issues, like crowding, bite problems, or narrow arches, and, when necessary, begin early Phase 1 treatment to guide proper jaw and tooth development before all permanent teeth have erupted.
Early treatment is not always necessary. Dr. Boller will always give you an honest assessment of what is truly beneficial for your child, and what can safely wait. When Phase 1 treatment is recommended, it can significantly simplify, or even eliminate the need for, more extensive treatment later.
Our office is designed to be a warm, welcoming space for kids. From colorful band choices to our friendly and patient team, we make every visit something your child can look forward to. Helping young patients feel comfortable and confident is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.
Braces for Teens
The teen years are the most common, and often the most ideal, time for orthodontic treatment. Most permanent teeth are in, and the jaw is still growing, creating the perfect window for braces to guide teeth and bite into proper alignment efficiently.
We understand that confidence matters at this age. That’s why we offer a range of options so teens can choose a look that fits their personality, whether that’s classic metal with colorful bands, low-profile clear ceramic brackets, or Invisalign Teen for maximum discretion. Dr. Boller will help your teen find the right fit.

More adults than ever are choosing braces, and modern options make it easier than ever to fit treatment into a busy professional life.
Left untreated, crowding, spacing, and bite issues can lead to uneven tooth wear, gum recession, and jaw discomfort over time. Addressing these concerns now is an investment in your health, not just your appearance.

Braces FAQ
Answers to the most common questions about braces treatment at Boller Orthodontic Arts.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a child’s first orthodontic evaluation by age 7. This doesn’t mean braces start at 7, it means Dr. Boller can monitor development and step in at the ideal time. For most kids, braces begin between ages 11 and 14 when most permanent teeth are in. Adults can begin treatment at any age.
Treatment time varies depending on the complexity of your case, but most patients wear braces for 12 to 24 months. Dr. Boller will give you a personalized timeline at your consultation.
You may experience some mild soreness for a few days after getting your braces on or after adjustment appointments. Over-the-counter pain relievers and soft foods can help. The discomfort is temporary and very manageable.
Absolutely. We recommend wearing a mouthguard during contact sports to protect your braces and teeth. We can provide custom mouthguards for our patients.
Sticky, hard, and chewy foods can damage brackets and wires. Common ones to avoid include gum, popcorn, hard candy, ice, and whole apples. We’ll give you a full list at your first appointment.
Brush after every meal and floss at least once daily using a floss threader or water flosser. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Regular dental cleanings are also important throughout treatment.
Most patients come in every 6 to 8 weeks for adjustments. We offer flexible scheduling at both our Crown Point and Dyer locations to work around school, work, and family schedules.
After your braces are removed, you’ll wear a retainer to hold your teeth in their new positions. Retainer wear is a lifelong commitment, teeth naturally want to shift back over time. Dr. Boller will provide detailed instructions and retainer options at your debanding appointment.
